Early Detection Promotes Long-Term Eye Health

When it comes to eye health, early detection is key. Regular eye exams allow us to identify and diagnose common eye conditions promptly. With in-depth diagnostic imaging and regular discussion about your eye health, we can help you safeguard your vision.

Comprehensive Care for a Wide Range of Eye Conditions

When people consider healthy vision, they often focus solely on clear, 20/20 vision. However, visual acuity is just a single factor in eye wellness.

Numerous eye diseases and conditions can affect the overall functionality of your eyes, impacting various aspects of your vision. From peripheral (side) vision to color vision, many facets of vision require proper care and attention beyond the ability to see distances clearly.

At Jellenek Family Eyecare, our priority is enriching your complete health. Our team has experience identifying and addressing a wide spectrum of eye conditions, including common eye problems such as cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eye injuries, and eye infections.

Cataracts

Cataracts are the formation of cloudy or opaque areas on the eye’s lens, which can result in blurred or hazy vision. Although most cataracts develop naturally with age, they can also manifest earlier or more severely due to eye injuries, sun damage, smoking, or underlying health conditions like diabetes.

Our team can detect and manage cataracts with personalized treatment options tailored to address your specific needs. We’re dedicated to providing you with quality care and compassionate support.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes, emerging when elevated blood sugar levels damage blood vessels within the retina. The progressive damage can impair sight, causing blurry vision, blank or dark spots, and poor night vision. Individuals with diabetes should have regular diabetic eye exams to monitor eye health. With diagnostic technology, we can closely watch how your eye health changes and recommend timely treatment to prevent vision loss.

Glaucoma

Often referred to as the “silent thief of sight,” glaucoma is a group of eye disorders that damage the optic nerve. The disease is commonly caused by increased eye pressure. When untreated, glaucoma can cause permanent vision loss.

At Jellenek Family Eyecare, we conduct comprehensive glaucoma screenings to assess your eye pressure to help detect early signs of the condition. Our knowledgeable optometrists will explain our available treatment options.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a progressive eye disease affecting the central part of the retina (macula), leading to loss of detailed and color vision, making daily activities challenging. Risk factors include sun damage, poor nutrition, smoking, lack of exercise, and heredity.

Our dedicated team uses diagnostic technology to help diagnose macular degeneration in its early stages. We offer personalized management plans to slow disease progression and preserve your central vision.

Eye Allergies

Eye allergies can cause itchiness, redness, watering, and swelling. They occur when the immune system overreacts to allergens in the environment. These symptoms can greatly affect your daily life and overall well-being.

Common eye allergy triggers include:

  • Outdoor allergens (like plant pollens)
  • Indoor allergens (like pet dander, dust mites, & mold)
  • Irritants (like smoke or perfume)

Our team will examine you thoroughly to help manage the triggers of your eye allergies and recommend appropriate treatment options. From lifestyle adjustments to medications, we can work with you to create a personalized plan for long-term relief.

Eye Infections

Eye infections can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or other external factors, and they can bring about a range of uncomfortable symptoms, such as redness, irritation, and eye discomfort. In more severe cases, they can even lead to vision loss.

Some common types of eye infections include:

Prompt diagnosis and treatment of eye infections are crucial to help prevent complications and promote healing. Our team will evaluate your eye health and symptoms to provide personalized treatment options, including appropriate medications to alleviate discomfort and speed recovery.

Thorough Evaluations Through Diagnostic Technology

At Jellenek Family Eyecare, we emphasize the importance of complete eye health that goes beyond clear sight. Comprehensive eye exams are crucial in maintaining eye health and monitoring changes related to your overall health.

Early detection is key to treating and managing eye diseases, but it also plays a role in preventing conditions from developing. We use technology to support accurate, detailed assessments. From retinal imaging to tonometry, our diagnostic tests allow us to develop personalized treatment plans for better outcomes.

We can help you take control of your eye health today.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology that uses light waves to capture detailed, cross-section images from within the eye. Scanning layers of eye tissue in-depth allows us to monitor eye health over time and detect early signs of eye disease.

A visual field test helps identify any blind spots in your vision, including your peripheral (side) vision. Blind spots can indicate vision loss caused by eye diseases or neurological conditions. By undergoing a visual field test, we can evaluate your vision in each eye or track changes over time.

Tonometry is a diagnostic test used to measure intraocular pressure (IOP), which refers to the pressure inside your eye. This measurement helps eye doctors evaluate your risk of glaucoma and monitor the effectiveness of treatment to prevent vision loss.
